New Principal at AGBC

Rev. Ron Swai has been named as the new Principal of AGBC and has arrived on campus. We are extremely pleased to welcome him back to Dodoma! (He received his Diploma in Ministry from AGBC some years ago). Since receiving his Masters in Theological Studies from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (Springfield, MO, USA), Rev. Swai has served as Principal of two other TAG Bible schools. He brings a wealth of experience and comes well-equipped to help AGBC at this stage in our growth.

Our outgoing Principal, Rev. Ezekiel Mbwilo, left AGBC to take advantage of an opportunity to pursue doctoral studies in the USA. We wish him the best as he studies and trust that he will be back in Tanzania with even more to share and contribute after his coursework.

Lots of changes as we grow.

It is hard to believe that the “new term” mentioned in the last news item has ended, and another one has come and gone!  Belated congratulations to our graduates at the end of 2006.

The lack of postings is not because there is nothing happening on campus–quite the opposite!  We have had so much going on that we have been distracted from keeping this web page updated.  Some of those items include:

  • Bishop Barnabas Mtokambali officiated at the 2006 graduation and also helped AGBC raise some funds for maintenance of existing buildings.
  • Between AGBC terms, Dr. Bob and Jackie Braswell traveled to Nairobi and taught in the East Africa Graduate School of Theology’s MA program as part of preparation for MA courses to begin in Dodoma.
  • Throughout 1st term 2007, we were privileged to have John and Lucretia Tolliver from Indiana, USA, staying with us on campus and teaching in the English program.  They also worshipped with us and made a great contribution to the whole atmosphere on campus.
  • Missionary Jeff Garrett taught a block course on the Gospel of John.  Missionary Jeff also brought some special guests from the US.  Jeff and these guests have all contributed to construction projects on campus.
  • Rev. Ron Cox (one of Jeff’s friends from the US) visited campus and preached in chapel.  He participated in the groundbreaking for a new dormitory, which his church has helped to fund.
  • Bishop Jotham Mwakimage came and officiated in the groundbreaking ceremony.
  • Rev. Michael Joyner (from Christ’s Fellowship church in Alabama, USA) taught two block courses in our BA program and also preached during our Spiritual Emphasis Week.  He made a tremendous impact on our 1st term of 2007.
  • Rev. Joyner also brought two of his friends skilled in construction, Ben and Darren, who helped with several projects, including preparing new faculty housing at the west end of campus.
  • The first of the new faculty duplexes was completed and two faculty families have begun to move into the new housing.
  • Many meetings and improvements have taken place in preparation for the anticipated MA program, to begin later this year.
