New personnel in Office.

Great times to you all ladies and gentlemen,
May Grace, Peace and Joy of our Lord Jesus Christ be your portion as we continue to serve God at our respective areas.

I want to thank you all for joining me in prayer for more labourers we needed badly here at Dodoma. God has answered our prayers and I am pleased to bring good news to you.

Evelyn

We have an abundance of beautiful children on campus and ought to feature more of them, but I particularly felt we owed Evelyn an update–she was an unhappy newborn when we published her picture last year. The world needs to know about her smile!

Calendar Updated

The AGBC Calendar events for 2008 have been added, and there are also some changes in event dates for the end of 2007.  Please note that graduation day has moved to Saturday!

New Principal at AGBC

Rev. Ron Swai has been named as the new Principal of AGBC and has arrived on campus. We are extremely pleased to welcome him back to Dodoma! (He received his Diploma in Ministry from AGBC some years ago). Since receiving his Masters in Theological Studies from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (Springfield, MO, USA), Rev. Swai has served as Principal of two other TAG Bible schools. He brings a wealth of experience and comes well-equipped to help AGBC at this stage in our growth.

Our outgoing Principal, Rev. Ezekiel Mbwilo, left AGBC to take advantage of an opportunity to pursue doctoral studies in the USA. We wish him the best as he studies and trust that he will be back in Tanzania with even more to share and contribute after his coursework.

Lots of changes as we grow.

It is hard to believe that the “new term” mentioned in the last news item has ended, and another one has come and gone!  Belated congratulations to our graduates at the end of 2006.

The lack of postings is not because there is nothing happening on campus–quite the opposite!  We have had so much going on that we have been distracted from keeping this web page updated.  Some of those items include:

  • Bishop Barnabas Mtokambali officiated at the 2006 graduation and also helped AGBC raise some funds for maintenance of existing buildings.
  • Between AGBC terms, Dr. Bob and Jackie Braswell traveled to Nairobi and taught in the East Africa Graduate School of Theology’s MA program as part of preparation for MA courses to begin in Dodoma.
  • Throughout 1st term 2007, we were privileged to have John and Lucretia Tolliver from Indiana, USA, staying with us on campus and teaching in the English program.  They also worshipped with us and made a great contribution to the whole atmosphere on campus.
  • Missionary Jeff Garrett taught a block course on the Gospel of John.  Missionary Jeff also brought some special guests from the US.  Jeff and these guests have all contributed to construction projects on campus.
  • Rev. Ron Cox (one of Jeff’s friends from the US) visited campus and preached in chapel.  He participated in the groundbreaking for a new dormitory, which his church has helped to fund.
  • Bishop Jotham Mwakimage came and officiated in the groundbreaking ceremony.
  • Rev. Michael Joyner (from Christ’s Fellowship church in Alabama, USA) taught two block courses in our BA program and also preached during our Spiritual Emphasis Week.  He made a tremendous impact on our 1st term of 2007.
  • Rev. Joyner also brought two of his friends skilled in construction, Ben and Darren, who helped with several projects, including preparing new faculty housing at the west end of campus.
  • The first of the new faculty duplexes was completed and two faculty families have begun to move into the new housing.
  • Many meetings and improvements have taken place in preparation for the anticipated MA program, to begin later this year.

The new term is underway.

The break between terms could hardly be called likizo (vacation)–it was a busy time on campus.  AGBC hosted the national Wanawake Watumishi wa Kristo meeting the week just before school resumed.  That meeting was a great success and we are looking forward to having the WWK Mkutano Mkuu back next year.

Last week we had dedicatory prayers for the new term and now we are well underway.  This is the last term for many students who will be graduating in November and there is a lot of serious study on campus these days as they are determined to finish well.

Also last week we had Bishop Mwakimage, the director of the TAG Education Department, and all the principals of TAG Bible Schools on campus for meetings.  It was a privilege to have them here and to have them greet us in chapel.

These are just a few of the things that are happening.  Maybe soon we will post an update on the church planted at Mnadani or the changes taking place in our library.  AGBC is a busy place these days and it is a privilege to be a part of the progress taking place here.

Two AGBC Leaders Ordained

Last week at the Mkutano Mkuu (General Council) of the Tanzania Assemblies of God, the two major items on the agenda were updates to the TAG’s constitution and bylaws and the ordination of 213 pastors.  Among those ordained were two of our leadership team from AGBC: Isaacs Challo and Gwakisa Mwansele.  Congratulations to these good friends, and to the TAG!

First look at Evelyn

It is my pleasure and honor to introduce you to Evelyn Challo, daughter of Isaac and Betty Challo. Mother and daughter are home from the hospital and doing well. Like many Tanzanians, Evelyn did not smile for the camera. I’m told her frown was due to hunger, and not because of the person who was holding her. Congratulations and every blessing to the Challos!

Mwenegoha returns to AGBC

Elisanto Mwenegoha graduated with his Diploma in Pastoral Ministries at the end of 2005, as evidenced by the accompanying photo. As a student he did an outstanding job working part-time in the bookstore. Now he is back on campus helping us organize the library. Give him a big welcome to AGBC! Mwenegoha

Welcome, Baby Challo!

Isaac and Betty Challo had a long night last night, but her work and his worry were worth it.  Their firstborn daughter has arrived, and we are grateful that she and her mother are doing fine.  It is a blessing to have babies and children as part of our AGBC community!

(For those who don’t know, Challo is our Dean of Students and Acting Registrar).
